WOBURN, MA — While Thanksgiving Day gatherings are likely to be a little smaller this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, that doesn't mean we're less likely to forget the
cranberry sauce, the gravy or the whipped topping for the pumpkin pie. It's a terrible feeling — but, luckily, there's a list of grocery stores that will be open in Woburn for
those emergency and last-minute shopping trips. In contrast to previous years, retail giants Target and Walmart will not be open on Thanksgiving. Both chains made the decision in response to
the coronavirus pandemic. In a statement released on its website, Target said the company's goal is to "make the holiday shopping experience simple, safe, and stress-free."
And most grocery stores in Massachusetts are closed on Thanksgiving. Your best bet may be small convenience stores or drugstore chains like Rite-Aid, Walgreens and CVS. Though be warned:
Pharmacies are closed on Thursday, too. And then there's always supporting a local restaurant, something that has become even more important amid the pandemic. Restaurant hours are at
the discretion of owners, so call ahead. And speaking of calling ahead, even stores that are open could have limited hours, so break out the cell phone and give your local market a call

HANNAFORD: The Lowell Hannaford will be closed on Thanksgiving. MARKET BASKET: All Massachusetts locations closed on Thanksgiving. RITE AID: The majority of stores will be open 7 a.m. to 10
p.m. Call ahead to confirm hours. SHAW'S: Massachusetts locations closed on Thanksgiving. STOP & SHOP: All stores in Massachusetts are closed on Thanksgiving. TARGET: All stores
