be named because it may lead to the identification of the victim, pleaded guilty to one count of grooming with intent to procure a child for an unlawful sexual act on November 30, 2019.

Crown prosecutor John Ransom said the Mowbray man had arranged to meet the girl in a park but the appointment was missed after the girl's family member confiscated the mobile phone after

divining some unusual behaviour.

family member found messages from the man including one about a meeting at midnight.

In an interview with police, he said the girl "wanted sex as well ".

He said the purpose of the meeting was to have a chat and see if it may lead to something.

He sent her a video of himself and a former girlfriend having sex and a picture of his penis.

Defence counsel James Oxley said the defendant had always struggled to make friends and his schooling was marked by bullying and social isolation.

Around the time of the offence, the man had become depressed and spent increasing amounts of time in his room, only coming out to east.

"He looks back at the event with shame and embarrassment," Mr Oxley said.

He said the man was not charged with sending the indecent material.

The man had no previous prior convictions.

Chief Justice Alan Blow sought a report on the man's suitability for community service orders and probation.

Sentencing was adjourned until February 4, 2021, at 4.15pm.
