Best Buy recalled six models of air fryers sold under the Insignia brand after receiving 24 reports of the products overheating, melting, catching on fire or the glass shattering, posing
fire, burn and laceration hazards, according to a safety alert from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The recall involves approximately 187,400 units sold nationwide, plus another 99,900 units sold in Canada, through Best Buy’s retail stores and website, as well as through eBay and other
third-party sellers. The affected products were sold between November 2021 and November 2023, with prices ranging from $32 to $180.
The recall involves both Insignia Air Fryers and Insignia Air Fryer Ovens identified by the following model numbers, which can be found on the underside of each unit:
Anyone who purchased one of the recalled products should stop using it immediately and visit the recall website to find instructions on how to submit photos and dispose of the product for a
refund. Note: Best Buy stores will not provide credits or refunds; the recalled air fryers must be registered through the recall website.
Refunds will be issued in the form of a check or Best Buy store credit. If a receipt is not available, the refund will be based on the average sales price of the model.
No injuries or property damage have been reported related to this recall, according to the CPSC.
In 2022, Best Buy recalled about 635,000 Insignia air fryers for fire risk.
