On March 29, 2022, AARP and The Asian American Foundation (TAAF) convened a conference to explore the issue of Asian American data equity in research. The conference included a panel of
expert speakers that discussed data equity for Asian Americans as well as Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders by: * Filling a major data gap by hearing the unseen stories of Asian
Americans through Pew Research Center’s largest focus group study and large probability-based survey of Asian Americans. * Considerations on building an AAPI probability panel through a
pioneering data effort led by AARP and NORC to launch the first AANHPI-focused consumer probability panel of adults age 18+. * Disaggregated data, investing in communities of color through
AAPI Data’s national survey data on Asian Americans politics conducted in-language and allowing for breakout of detailed origin groups. * Addressing disparities in research participation
among AAPIs through CARE’s (Collaborative Approach for Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders Research & Education) survey study that aims to implement culturally appropriate and
innovative recruitment strategies in collaboration with CARE’s community partners to enroll 10,000 AAPIs. * Addressing the impact of Asian American data equity among a panel of community
leaders and advocates from AARP New York; White House Initiative on Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (WHIAANHPI); former New York State Assembly member; Asian &
Pacific Islander American (APIA) Health Forum; and Blue Shield of California Foundation. * Addressing data, COVID, and advocacy through APIA Health Forum’s efforts to lead and promote data
disaggregation. * Addressing priority areas to supplement and support AANHPI data equity from a funders’ perspective through the Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP)
data equity workgroup. * Building a culture of health through Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s investments to support data disaggregation of racial/ethnic data. For more information, please
