FELIX DISNEY-MOORE, FOUR, HAD NO SYMPTOMS UNTIL HIS MUM, HAYLEY DISNEY, 40, SPOTTED A WHITE GLOW IN HIS LEFT EYE AND TOOK HIM FOR A CHECK-UP AT FRIMLEY PARK HOSPITAL, SURREY 08:39, 03 Jun

2025 The parents of a young lad diagnosed with two rare cancers before his third birthday were "relieved" to find out he had blood cancer instead of the disease in his eye

spreading - because it gave him "a chance of survival". Four year old Felix Disney-Moore showed no symptoms until his mum, Hayley Disney, 40, noticed a white glow in his left eye

and took him for a check-up at Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey. He was urgently referred to Royal London Hospital and diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma - a form of eye cancer that

affects both eyes - and the family were told he'd need his left eye removed to save his life. However, a day before his scheduled surgery, an MRI revealed a third tumour - leading to a

diagnosis of trilateral retinoblastoma with leptomeningeal disease instead - and Felix had to undergo eight months of aggressive chemotherapy. READ MORE: DEAL RAISES HOPES OF BIRMINGHAM BIN

STRIKE END The family thought they were out of the woods but a post-treatment scan three months later detected a mass on his liver. Tests confirmed Felix had lymphoma - a type of blood

cancer - and he has spent the last two years undergoing chemotherapy and is expected to finally finish in July. Article continues below Hayley and Felix's dad, Tom Moore, 44, a retail

manager, are fundraising to take Felix and his sister Thea, seven, to Disney World, Florida, US. Hayley, who previously worked as the head of operations for a digital app, from Sandhurst,

Berkshire, said: "I noticed a slight white glow in his eye and thought 'I'll go get it checked out'. "Literally everything changed. He was such a happy baby we

thought 'are we going to lose him?'. "But he's so amazing. Felix astonishes me everyday. "He still has such a zest for life." Hayley noticed an unusual glow in

Felix's eye the day after his second birthday in August 2022. She immediately took him to hospital where it was discovered that he was blind in his left eye, leading to an urgent

referral to Royal London Hospital. A week later, a red reflex test - a procedure that uses light to examine the back of the eye - revealed that Felix had bilateral retinoblastoma. The family

then had to grapple with the reality that their son would lose his left eye in order to save his life. Hayley said: "You don't have time to process. You just have to do. "It

was incredibly daunting." However, on the eve of his surgery, Hayley received a phone call from Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) informing her that a pre-op MRI scan had uncovered a

third tumour in Felix's pineal gland and a leak into his brain. This meant that Felix's diagnosis was now trilateral retinoblastoma, requiring aggressive chemotherapy treatment.

Hayley said: "GOSH had seen one other case in the last 10 years - now 12. "It was a lot to process. There were no statistics. "We had absolutely no clue on success rates. It

was really frightening." Felix began five cycles of chemotherapy in September 2022, becoming extremely unwell after each cycle. After a gruelling 40-day high-dose session and a stem

cell transplant in March 2023, Felix's family hoped for a return to normality. Hayley commented on the agonising wait they endured: "We found ourselves in this new world of just

waiting, watching every breath Felix took, wondering." Yet, there were signs of progress as she mentioned, "But we started to get to life. We went back to work, Felix started to

build his strength." However, the optimism was short-lived when a post-treatment scan in June 2023 brought troubling news. Hayley revealed, "They could see something on his

liver." Subjected to an array of tests including biopsies and MRIs, it was feared that Felix's retinoblastoma had metastasised, a situation Hayley dreaded: "How was I going to

explain it to Felix?". She reflected on the harrowing choices ahead, asking, "How do you explain to your child they are going to die?". Despite the grim prospects as he

gained strength, their fortunes turned upon discovering the issue was leukaemia, later identified as lymphoma. Hayley expressed mixed feelings: "It was a massive shock to them that it

came back as treatable." A bewildering moment led to relief, she added, "It was feeling very wrong to be celebrating your child has lymphoma. But it was amazing news."

Unfortunately, with a diagnosis of lymphoma, Felix embarked on another chemotherapy regime at Southampton Hospital in July 2023. Hayley spoke about Felix's struggle with renewed

therapy: "It hit Felix hard. He'd already gone through this gruelling eight months of high level chemotherapy." She noted the physical toll on her son: "He gained a lot

of weight and he stopped walking." Felix has bravely faced two years of chemotherapy and even battled through a sepsis scare after his port became infected, with his treatment set to

conclude in July 2025. Despite the challenges, including damaged hearing that necessitates the use of a hearing aid for life, Felix has maintained a positive attitude throughout. His mum,

Hayley, is now aiming to bring a bit of joy back into her children's lives by taking them on a dream holiday to Disney World. Unfortunately, the family's savings have dwindled

after being tapped into over the past few years. In response, their friends have rallied together to launch a fundraising campaign to help send the family on holiday once Felix completes his

treatment, amidst Hayley's ongoing worries about the possibility of the cancer returning. Hayley expressed her deep desire to reward her children, stating: "They deserve the

world." She added, "It's a massive chunk of their childhood taken away." Dedicating herself to her children's happiness, she affirmed, "They deserve something

fun." Furthermore, she emphasised, "I want something special for them." Article continues below You can show your support for the family and contribute to making their Disney
