A major fire in Birmingham city centre has led to buildings being evacuated and around 50 firefighters called to the scene. The blaze is in a building in Rea Street in the Deritend area of

MAIN ROAD CLOSED It sent some ten crews to the scene. Businesses nearby have been evacuated. Plumes of black smoke can be seen across the city centre. The fire service posted on X: “Several
fire crews have responded to a fire in a building in Rea Street, Digbeth, Birmingham. “It was reported to us shortly before 9am. At this stage, no-one is believed to have been injured.
“Please avoid the area. Keep doors and windows closed as a precaution if you're nearby.” This is a live breaking story with updates to follow below.
