UNAI EMERY HAS NAMED HIS ASTON VILLA SIDE TO FACE CLUB BRUGGE IN THE SECOND LEG OF THEIR CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ROUND OF 16 TIE 18:50, 12 Mar 2025Updated 18:59, 12 Mar 2025 Aston Villa manager

Unai Emery has named his starting XI to face Club Brugge in the Champions League this evening. He has made five changes from the side which beat Brentford 1-0 last time out as Emi Martinez,

Matty Cash, Ian Maatsen, Boubacar Kamara and Marcus Rashford all come in. From back to front, Martinez starts in goal behind a defence of Cash, Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings and Maatsen. Kamara

will play in the double pivot alongside Youri Tielemans, while John McGinn operates from the right, Rashford on the left Morgan Rogers in the number 10 role and Ollie Watkins up front. The

winners from the tie will face Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals, with the first leg to be played at the Parc des Princes. Villa last hosted a Belgian side in any European

competition back in April 1982 in the European Cup semi-final against Anderlecht, winning 1-0 with a goal from Tony Morley on their way to winning the trophy. If Emery’s side progress, Villa

will become the ninth different English side to qualify for a Champions League quarter-final. Brugge, meanwhile, have never won away in England in major European competition in 14 attempts

(D2 L12), losing their last five visits. Only Anderlecht (18) and Dynamo Kyiv (15) have played more in England without ever winning. VILLA STARTING XI: Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Maatsen,

Kamara, Tielemans, McGinn, Rogers, Rashford, Watkins. SUBS: Olsen, Zych, Disasi, Torres, Bogarde, Digne, Onana, Bailey, Asensio, Ramsey. CLUB BRUGGE STARTING XI: Mignolet, Sabbe, Ordonez,

Mechele, De Cuyper, Onyedika, Jashari, Talbi, Vanaken, Tzolis, Jutgla. SUBS: Jackers, Romero, Vetlesen, Vermant, Nilsson, Skoras, Siquet, Spileers, Campbell. Article continues below WHAT DO
