MARTINEZ ANSWERS TRANSFER QUESTION Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez brushed off questions relating to his future at the club, as he reported for international duty with his native
Argentina, adding: "There is a lot to do." The future of Martinez at Villa has been under the spotlight pretty much since the penultimate game of Villa's recently ended
season; he was pictured visibly emotional as he left the pitch following their home win over Tottenham Hotspur last month, and then featured in the final day defeat at Manchester United,
where he was sent off. Martinez, who signed from Arsenal in 2020 for £20m, has proven to be a bargain for the club; he has gone on to help Villa to three consecutive European campaigns, and
internationally the double Yashin award winner has lifted the World Cup in Qatar while being individually recognised by FIFA. The goalkeeper only signed a new contract with Villa last
summer, which runs until 2029, so the prospects of a departure will depend entirely on the club themselves, who are in a position to demand plenty from any suitors. Manchester United and
Barcelona have been linked, while a return to Arsenal has also been mooted. Martinez, though, is focused solely on the short-term - and that involves representing Argentina, against Chile
this Friday and Colombia next Wednesday, in their World Cup qualifiers. Naturally, he was asked about what his own future holds as he touched down, but the 32-year-old remained coy on the
situation. READ THE FULL STORY HERE
