Walsall have confirmed that Birmingham City pair Alfie Chang and George Hall have returned to their parent club at the end of their respective loan spells at the Bescot Stadium. The Saddlers

borrowed midfielder Chang and winger Hall from Blues over the course of the season as they pushed for promotion back to the third tier; having been clear at the top under boss and former

Blue Mat Sadler, they relinquished their healthy points lead to their promotion rivals and were made to settle for a place in the play-offs. Having eased past Chesterfield in the

semi-finals, they faced Wimbledon at Wembley in the final on Monday, but were edged out 1-0 in a game where both Chang and Hall started - the latter played 90 minutes. Walsall will be

operating in the fourth tier again next season. They confirmed their retained list on Saturday after the conclusion of their campaign and announced that Chang and Hall would be returning to

Blues; Chang, 22, only joined in February and made 10 appearances, becoming a prominent figure from April onwards. He netted in the semi-final first leg win at Chesterfield. Hall was

permitted a loan by Blues predominantly to play; the winger has endured dreadful luck on the injury front in recent years since breaking into the first-team picture and those setbacks

didn't leave him alone at Walsall, either - he did, though, play 22 games and finished the season strongly, scoring in the final day win at Crewe Alexandra. Walsall, in their statement,

added: "We thank each of these players for their service to Walsall Football Club and wish them every success in their future endeavours." They confirmed that former Blues

midfielder Charlie Lakin had been kept on, while they'd exercised the one-year option afforded to them to keep on another Blues academy product, Rico Browne, too. Another Blues kid,

Ryan Stirk, has opened talks with the club regarding a new deal. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT BLUES TO ACHIEVE NEXT SEASON? TELL US HERE _Everyday, the BirminghamLive football desk strive to deliver
