Huawei has reportedly nabbed Sony’s 52MP Quad Bayer image sensor for the main camera on its P40 Pro smartphone, promising exceptional low light photography. The custom-designed Sony image
sensor features a brand new ’16-in-1′ technology which allows the sensor to make photographic conversions by merging four pixels into one. What this means is for the 52MP sensor each photo
will be captured in 13MP, allowing for greater exposure in low light situations. It comes as Apple looks to promote its ‘Night Mode’ photography in the new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and
iPhone 11 Pro Max. Apple will be selecting five photos on 4 March to celebrate the ‘captivating ways to shoot on iPhone’. In addition to the new sensor, a dual-prism periscope lens is also
in the works for the new smartphone which would provide a massive 10x optical zoom. According to GizChina, Huawei has applied trademarks for ‘Quad-Curve Overflow’, ‘Ultra Vision Camera’,
‘Ultra Vision Sensor’ and ‘5G AR’. With a Huawei event scheduled for March, more information should be revealed as we get closer to the launch.
