FIVE MORE WERE TREATED AT THE SCENE AND DISCHARGED 20:49, 27 May 2025 One person has been taken to hospital following a four vehicle collision which caused the closure of the A1 in
Northumberland. Emergency services were called to the junction of the B6348 for Bellshill, south of Belford, shortly after 6.30pm on Tuesday evening. The A1 remains closed in both directions
between the junction for the B6348 and the B6349 for Belford. National Highways reported on its live traffic service that the closure was due to an "accident involving an overturned
vehicle". One person has been taken to Cramlington Hospital, and five were treated at the scene before being discharged. A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said:
"We were called to a road traffic incident on the A1 near Belford today (May 27) at 18:34. We dispatched two ambulance crews and one duty officer. "Five patients were treated and
discharged on scene and one person was taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital." A spokesperson for Northumberland Fire and Rescue said: "We were called at 6.38pm
to reports of a four vehicle crash on the A1 at the junction of the B6348. We had three appliances at the scene alongside police and ambulance, and we currently have one appliance still
