SUSPECT ARRESTED OVER RAID IS IN HOSPITAL AFTER BECOMING ILL ON WAY TO CUSTODY 14:43, 02 Jun 2025 Staff at a Tyneside Greggs were allegedly threatened with a screwdriver when they challenged
a thief. Police have arrested a man on suspicion of robbery in connection with the incident, which happened at the bakery giant's North Shields store on Sunday. But the suspect is
today in hospital after becoming unresponsive while being taken into police custody for questioning. Northumbria Police is now appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at
around midday. A spokeswoman for the force said: "Shortly after 12pm on Sunday, June 1, we received a report of robbery at a premises on Bedford Street in North Shields. It is believed

aged in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of robbery. While being transported to custody, the man became unresponsive. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition. A
