A medical emergency on a Tyne and Wear Metro train at Palmersville station has resulted in one person being taken to hospital. The incident took place at around 8.50am on Friday, when the


passenger became unwell and the North East Ambulance Service was contacted. The ambulance crew arrived at the scene and transported the patient to the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care


Hospital so that they could receive further care. As a result of the incident, there have been delays of around 20 minutes on the Yellow Line of the Metro service, from Benton towards South


Shields, as well as further delays in the other direction. A Nexus spokesperson said: "A medical emergency occurred on board a train at Palmersville this morning at around 8.50am after


a customer became unwell. The train was held at the station and an ambulance was called. "The incident has caused delays of 20 minutes on services on our Yellow Line from Benton towards


South Shields. We are working to resolve the issue and will resume the timetable as soon as possible." A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We received a call at


8.53am on Friday 23 May to reports of a medical incident at Palmersville Metro station in Forest Hall, Newcastle. "We dispatched an ambulance crew to the scene and transported one
