A new free newsletter has been launched that aims to bring together everything you need to know about what’s going on in Newcastle. The Newcastle Drop collates stories from around the city
into one easy-talking-read letter that is published three times a week. LED by Journal editor Graeme Whitfield, the Newcastle Drop will feature stories from the Chronicle, The Journal and
ChronicleLive, but also reports from other news sites, individual writers and news from key organisations in the city. As well as news and sport there will be all of the city’s business
news, dispatches from the city’s cultural scene and a community notice board to give an outlet to announcements from smaller groups and people making a difference in the city. Newcastle Drop
editor Graeme Whitfield said: ‘I was born in Newcastle and I’ve lived here pretty much all of my life. I know it’s a great place to live and work and I want the Newcastle Drop to become a
part of our vibrant community life. "This is a city of 300,000 people, three top flight sports teams, two universities and countless great businesses. We've got so many thriving
cultural venues and our nightlife is legendary around the UK. "The first few editions of the Newcastle Drop have reflected that sense of vibrancy. There is crime and court news but also
brilliant developments happening in our hospitals, charities and voluntary groups looking after their communities and all the excitement of the end-of-season time for our big sports clubs.
"The Newcastle I know is friendly, hard working, funny and welcoming: I hope the Newcastle Drop will be all of those things." The Newcastle Drop will be published three times a
weeky on the independent platform Substack. You can subscribe to read it for free via email, on the Substack app or on desktop. Once people are subscribed, it's sent directly to read at
their leisure. We also want people in the city to get involved. The Newcastle Drop will have a community noticeboard feature, which readers can contribute to. The noticeboard will be a
round-up of the latest community events and appeals in the city, helping people stay up to date with what is going on and how people can get involved. It's hoped that other parts of the
North East will also get Drop newsletters at a later date.
