A DRIVER, WHO LATER FAILED A BREATH TEST, HAD CRASHED INTO ANOTHER CAR WHICH WAS CARRYING THREE FAMILY DOGS 14:12, 02 Jun 2025 A fundraising campaign has been launched for a state-of-the-art
drone in tribute to a cherished Springer Spaniel tragically killed on the M1. A dog owners 'worst nightmare' unfolded on Saturday, March 15, following an accident at junction 33
of the M1. A motorist, who subsequently failed an alcohol test, collided with another vehicle transporting three family dogs. Tragically, one of the dogs, a Springer Spaniel named Darcy, did
not make it. The second canine, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, was unscathed, while the third, a German Shepherd called Athena, bolted in fright. Thankfully, 'K9-RSQ' rescue
operatives managed to retrieve Athena after several days, utilising a thermal drone to locate her. K9-RSQ's founder, Glen Dent, emphasised that the tracking equipment they employ is
often the difference between life and death. Glen commented: "When dogs are near the motorway, every second counts. Right now, we have just one thermal scope between us. It is a vital
tool for spotting dogs that would otherwise be invisible in the dark or dense undergrowth.", reports Yorkshire Live. Yet, as the number of lost pets appears to be increasing, the team
is urgently requesting donations for an additional high-tech drone to cope with the growing number of incidents. In a remarkable tale of persistence, the team behind a heroic rescue recalled
their successful search for Remy, a four year old Collie who escaped from a horse transporter after a thwarted break-in at Woodhall Services. Terrified and on the run, Remy hurtled down the
M1 near Barlborough and disappeared into the surrounding fields, prompting immediate concerns for her welfare. Article continues below Glen recounted the high-stakes operation: "Remy
wasn't responding to traps, so the drones became Plan-B and they worked. During Remy's rescue, South Yorkshire Police even offered us a rolling roadblock escort on the M1 due to
the seriousness of the situation." With the help of their diligent drones, Remy was spotted feasting on a dead pheasant, which allowed the devoted team and owner Marian to carefully
intervene. With the K9-RSQ team's expert guidance, Marian successfully reunited with her beloved pet. Buoyed by this success, the rescue team is now looking to acquire an additional
drone through fundraising efforts. Glen emphasised the urgency: "With a thermal, all-weather drone, we will be able to act faster and save more dogs like Athena and Remy. This kind of
equipment makes the difference between life and death in many cases." OUR CHRONICLELIVE DAILY NEWSLETTER IS FREE. YOU CAN SIGN UP TO RECEIVE IT HERE. It will keep you up to date with
