GARY LINEKER WAS REMOVED FROM THE BBC THIS WEEK AFTER HIS FINAL MATCH OF THE DAY SHOW SAW HIM LEAVE THE CORPORATION 13:34, 03 Jun 2025 Gary Lineker has moved his podcast endeavours to the

streaming titan DAZN following his departure from the BBC. The illustrious 'The Rest Is Football' podcast, which sees Lineker teaming up with Alan Shearer and Micah Richards, will

benefit from incorporating Club World Cup footage into its video editions due to this alliance. With DAZN possessing the US broadcasting rights for the forthcoming expanded FIFA tournament

this summer, they swiftly acquired the podcast, which was recently removed from the BBC Sounds app amidst Lineker's severance from the corporation. Lineker, aged 64, ended his tenure as

a presenter ahead of schedule after an online post he shared regarding Zionism, featuring a rat image – an icon mistakenly construed as an antisemitic trope – led to controversy. Having

issued a comprehensive apology, Lineker is set to conclude his time at the BBC and shall not take part in presenting either the 2026 World Cup or the upcoming season’s FA Cup coverage. His

swan song on Match of the Day was broadcast on May 25, reports Leeds Live. Pete Oliver, DAZN’s head honcho for growth markets, remarked: "The Rest Is Football is essential viewing and

listening for fans who want insight, entertainment, and personality - and this partnership is a brilliant way to bring the FIFA Club World Cup even closer to that audience. Article continues

below "It's about connecting global football with the voices fans trust and love, and showing the tournament in a fresh, exciting, and authentically British way." Presenting

the final Match of the Day episode alongside fellow pundits Shearer and Richards, Lineker was given an emotional send off after a special tribute package. Lineker joined the programme after

beginning his career as a BBC Radio Five Live presenter, also contributing to Grandstand during his early years in broadcasting. He is the co-founder of Goalhanger Podcasts, which produces

The Rest Is History series and its spin-offs about politics, football, entertainment and money. The presenter was temporarily suspended from the BBC in March 2023 over a dispute regarding

impartiality, following comments he made criticising the then-government's new asylum policy. In February of this year, he was among 500 other prominent figures who signed an open

letter urging the BBC to rebroadcast a documentary, Gaza: How To Survive A War Zone, on BBC iPlayer. Gabby Logan, Kelly Cates and Mark Chapman are set to replace the Leicester-born star,

sharing the presenting role on Match Of The Day from the next Premier League season. _Make sure you don't miss out on the latest NUFC news by joining our free WhatsApp group. You can
