ENGLAND STAR JACK GREALISH IS ON HIS WAY OUT OF MANCHESTER CITY WITH NEWCASTLE UNITED LINKED WITH A MOVE 19:53, 29 May 2025 Manchester City have announced they will move swiftly in the

transfer market this summer as they look to remodel their squad in a bid to regain their Premier League title. Pep Guardiola's side relinquished their crown after four years, finishing

third after a disappointing season ended with them failing to win any silverware. The Etihad outfit have admitted they got their recruitment wrong last summer and chairman Khaldoon Al

Mubarak has revealed their plans are already in full swing - and he hopes to have their 'new squad' in place inside the next fortnight. That could have severe implications for Jack

Grealish. The England forward has slipped down the pecking order after a campaign that saw him only start seven Premier League games. Grealish was dropped by Guardiola for the final game of

the season and looks set to depart Manchester this summer. Newcastle United are believed to be his preferred destination, though the Magpies have so far not indicated an interest in signing

the player, even on loan. Grealish could now be set to kick his heels at home at City jet out to USA for the Club World Cup. It comes as Al Mubarak revealed the club are closing in on their

summer signings. The City supremo put a timeframe on getting the main business sorted before the Club World Cup, which begins in mid-June, as part of his annual review. Their transfer

splurge will echo the January activity which saw them sign four new players at a cost of £180m in what was the biggest outlay by any club across Europe. “We feel very good. We feel very good

about these players - that's four players in January. And that gives you an idea of what's coming this summer because we will continue this summer with this, serving the needs of

the club," he said. "And I can tell you today, that's, I would say, day one of the new season, we have clearly identified who exactly are the targets, in what positions, and

we have our clear number one option, our clear number two option. "And we'll go about our business, and it will be very clear, very swift. And our objective is to try to be ready

with the new squad for the Club World Cup.” Reflecting on last summer's transfer window, which saw Savinho as the only major arrival while the likes of Julian Alvarez, Joao Cancelo and

Kyle Walker departed, Al Mubarak accepted that City should have been more 'aggressive'. In the end, City signed four players - including Lens defender Abdukodir Khusanov, pipping

Newcastle to his signature - as they forced through deals in order to ensure they still qualified for the Champions League. He continued: “This club has gone through, as always, a

regeneration. We've gone through, I think at least when I look at the last 16, 17 odd years of being involved in this club, so many different squads, and we've done it, I think, in

a structured way over the years. "When I look back, last summer, we probably should have been more aggressive in some of the changes we needed to do. We didn't do that and that

ended up costing us this year. We already started that rebuild of this team in January. "Normally we like to do our business in the summer and only in case of emergency, a special need

that comes up, do we actually go and do business in January. That's been our MO at least for the last seven or eight years. But this January, we had to act.” City are interested in

Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest and Tijjani Reijnders of AC Milan, while French playmaker Rayan Cherki has also been linked. They are also looking to refresh their full-back

positions - with Tino Livramento on their radar - and goalkeeper. Guardiola, however, has insisted he doesn't want a bloated squad. The Spaniard made the odd comment that he would quit

rather than have to keep leaving players out. With that in mind, Grealish is set to exit the club, though with two years still on his contract and wages of £300,000 per week it won't be

an easy deal for any club trying to sign him. Article continues below
