A NUMBER OF NEWCASTLE UNITED PLAYERS HEADED OUT IN TOWN AFTER THE TEAM QUALIFIED FOR THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE IN SUNDAY 17:07, 26 May 2025Updated 17:10, 26 May 2025 Several Newcastle United

players toasted qualifying for the Champions League with a night out on the town on Sunday, hours after the last match of the season against Everton. The job was simple for Eddie Howe's

men as they took to the pitch at St James' Park at the weekend: win and they'd be guaranteed a place in Europe's top cup competition, draw and they might need to rely on

other results, or lose and hope for the best! And things definitely did not go to plan for United, as, while Everton only had pride to play for, it was the away team who went 1-0 up midway

through the second half, to stun the NUFC faithful into silence and leave them nervously keeping on eye on how things were going elsewhere. Manchester City ended up in third thanks to their

2-0 win at Fulham, while their 1-0 advantage at fellow Champions League chasers Nottingham Forest put Chelsea in the ascendency as well. Having gone 1-0 down at home, Newcastle then had to

hope Man United beat Aston Villa to hand them the final spot and, after a Villa goal was controversially ruled out after a VAR check, the struggling Red Devils brushed them aside 2-0. While

they slumped to a narrow 1-0 final day defeat, the result at Old Trafford meant that the Carabao Cup winning Magpies DID qualify and, after celebrating on the pitch with their families and

club staff, several United first teamers continued the party in Newcastle city centre, with the Kieran Trippier, Sean Longstaff, Nick Pope and Callum Wilson, who looked tearful after the

game, out at popular Irish bar Katie O'Brien's, along with the likes of reserve keeper Mark Gillespie, kit man Greg McDermott and ex United defender Paul Dummett. The NUFC team are

big fans of local restaurant Brack Burger, with the duo behind that and 5D cinema Eatflix, where Kieran was with his family on Saturday, also joining in the festivities. Katie's shared

a photo of the group on their social media pages, writing: 'Congratulations boys on making it in the Champions League! What an amazing season and huge achievement to win the Caribou

Cup this year. Cheers for joining us to celebrate your achievements last night!' Article continues below JOIN OUR WHATSAPP COMMUNITIES ChronicleLive is now on WhatsApp and we want you
