Let me hear it! Say it loud! Race that engine! Yesterday, I blogged about the growing speculation in the auto industry that we may be seeing the final hurrah for muscle cars. And yes, many

of you took me to task for calling pony cars, muscle cars. Anyway, I was blown away by the e-mails many of you sent to me in which you said, "NO WAY! WE'RE NOT GIVING UP ON MUSCLE CARS!"

Here's a sampling.

Darrin wrote: "Muscle cars aren’t going anywhere. Who says the style and feel can’t remain while still modernizing fuel efficiency?"

Jason added:"For those of us that shun traction control and climate control in favor of posi traction and heater-delete options, the muscle car will never die..."

Dennis loves the muscle cars but admits their future will be tied to better mileage. He wrote: "I hate to see them go as well, but the reality of the situation is they will need to get

drastically improved mileage if they are going to sell in meaningful numbers."

Doug thinks the answer is make future muscle cars be electric cars telling me:"You should drive the Tesla, or have driven the EV1. They have an incredible sense of power and smooth

purchase."

But my favorite e-mail came from Tonya who told me:"One day the kids will be in college and the days of practical minivan mom will be over and I will have my Charger or Challenger!"
