Beginning today, you can skip baggage claim and have your checked luggage delivered to your home, office or hotel, when flying on American Airlines — for a fee. Bags arrive as quickly as an

hour within a flight's arrival. Unclaimed baggage Don Emmery | AFP | Getty Images American Airlines has partnered with Bags VIP Luggage Delivery to allow passengers to bypass baggage

claim at more than 200 U.S. airports. After booking a flight on American's website, you will be offered the option at a cost of $29.95 for one bag, $39.95 for two bags or $49.95 for

three to 10 bags. The price is in addition to any applicable checked bag fees, which start at $25 for the first bag. The bag tags will have a special indicator printed on them to help Bags

VIP representatives correctly identify luggage and get it to its final delivery destination. For locations within 40 miles from the airport, bags will be delivered within one to four hours

of flight arrival. A surcharge of $1 per mile is added for bags requiring delivery between 41 and 100 miles from the airport, and the estimated delivery time changes to between four and six

hours. In addition to reserving the service at the time of making a flight reservation, it's also available for purchase up to two hours prior to departure on American's website.

"We think this service will be especially valuable to families traveling with children as well as our business travelers who need to go straight to a meeting or into the office,"

says David Vance, managing director of customer operations planning for American in a press release. I probably won't ever use the service, but I do see value in it for those who need

to make a quick escape from the airport upon arrival. What do you think? Would you pay to have your checked bags delivered?
