MOTORING OFFENCES SUCH AS EXTREME SPEEDING ROSE 56 PER CENT COMPARED WITH LAST YEAR, LATEST CRIME FIGURES SHOW MOTORING offences such as speeding and driving under the influence of drink or
drugs have risen significantly compared to last year, latest crime figures show. The figures, from the _Observatoire de la délinquance_, show that extreme speeding cases rose 56 per cent in
January and February 2011 compared with the same period last year. Extreme speeding is classed as exceeding the speed limit by 50kph or more. The first two months of this year saw 2,358
prosecutions, compared to 1,514 in the same period in 2010. The number of cases of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs rose 16 per cent to 32,093 cases in January-February of
