THE SOUTH OF FRANCE AND CORSICA ARE THE MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE HIGHER THAN USUAL TEMPERATURES The upcoming summer period is likely to be warmer than usual in France, state forecaster
Météo France predicts. The south of France, in particular Corsica, is likely to be warmer than average in June, July, and August, the forecaster stated in its monthly bulletin covering the
coming months. There is a 60% chance of higher temperatures in Corsica, a 50% chance it will be hotter than average levels in other parts of France and a 30% chance temperatures will reach
average levels. However, it has not ruled out the possibility of a cooler than usual summer, with a 20% chance of this occurring (10% in Corsica). At a European level, a warmer than usual
summer is expected across the Mediterranean and the Balkans, the latter of which is also likely to be drier than usual. It is uncertain whether the season will be drier or wetter than
normal in France, Météo France said. French authorities remain confident that the country will avoid widespread drought this summer after plentiful rainfall at the start of the year, but
remain vigilant. Climatologists assess several global factors to estimate weather conditions for the upcoming three months, although these of course are far from certain. Météo France
publishes daily weather bulletins as well as weather warnings for extreme conditions – including for heatwaves and canicules – and The Connexion covers the weather outlook across France at
the start and end of each week.
