06:05 EDT, 30 March 2021 | Updated: 10:53 EDT, 30 March 2021 Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway's next episode will be the end for the season, Stephen Mulhern revealed during
last week's show. And viewers were left distraught when they learned the programme would be coming to an end so soon, and ITV revealed on Tuesday that the show has raked in a hugely
impressive 8.5 million viewers across the show. The presenter, 43, confirmed during Saturday's show that it was the penultimate episode of the season, as he spoke on behalf of the
Geordie duo, both 45. Closing off the show, and joking about how it was now called 'Stephen Mulhern's Saturday Night Takeaway, he informed fans the next episode was the final one
this season as he said: 'Join me next week for the last show of the series' At the end of the episode, it was also confirmed by a voiceover from ITV that the show would be airing
its last episode of the season the next week. ITV representatives confirmed to MailOnline that the show was always planned to air just seven episodes, and the same number of episodes were
broadcast for last year's show. In the seventh episode, Mo Gilligan will be their special guest announcer, and Mo Farah will be taking part in I'm A Celebrity... Get Outta Me Ear.
Other highlights set to appear on the programme include the final episode of their drama Double Trouble, which sees their evil clones target them. Fans of the show took to Twitter to
express their sadness over the show had reached its final episode of the series already. One upset fan shared a picture of a person crying, and wrote: 'it's the last episode of
the season next week?? im not ready (sic).' Another added they were feeling 'a little emotional knowing it's the last episode of #SaturdayNightTakeaway next week' Unhappy
with the news, one viewer added: '#SaturdayNightTakeaway nice show last night the last epiosde next week :( :( :(' During the show, Stephen also revealed he had orchestrated an
elaborate prank with Lorraine Kelly, Holly Willoughby, Phillip Shofield and the Loose Women earlier in the week. During her interview with KSI, Lorraine, 61, was seen dealing with a pesky
fly, leg cramp, a bout of yawning, and a mouse in the studio. Lorraine's antics matched those of all the presenters across the ITV daytime brand, including Good Morning Britain, This
Morning, and Loose Women. Ant and Dec said that they organised the hilarious show prank by asking fellow presenter Stephen to hold up signs with words that Holly, 40, and Phillip, 58, had
to say during the broadcast. The bizarre segment last week saw Holly share that she was 'bursting for a wee', before she and Phillip constantly chatted over chef James Martin as
he attempted to present his cooking segment. Stephen held up a series of white signs with various random phrases and tasks written on them that Holly and Phil had to try and incorporate
into their scripts. One of the tasks the pair had to complete was 'pretending to have cramp' which Phil then acted out, prompting Holly to say: 'You have a cramp? Salt,
I'll walk it off and get some salt.' Leaping from her chair on the socially-distanced set, she then wandered from one end of the studio to the kitchen, before saying: 'I
can't find it! Can't find the salt!' Other phrases they had to include in their scripts were 'don't mug me off', 'flaps' and 'big bush'. The
instructions from Stephen sparked chaos on set and viewers quite rightly took to Twitter in droves to share their view that their actions were all part of a 'prank' coordinated by
Ant and Dec. Ant and DecTwitter
