FOR A LENGTHY PERIOD OF TIME, SURFACE WATER WAS PRESENT ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CARRIAGEWAY AT MANSE ROAD FROM A DRAIN LOCATED NEAR WHERE THE STREET MEETS NORTH LODGE AVENUE AND TOWARDS AN

ENTRANCE POINT TO THE BARON’S HAUGH NATURE RESERVE. ROSS THOMSON 20:20, 28 May 2025 A long-standing sewage problem in the North Lodge area of Motherwell has been resolved. For a lengthy

period of time, surface water was present on the bottom of the carriageway at Manse Road from a drain located near where the street meets North Lodge Avenue and towards an entrance point to

the Baron’s Haugh nature reserve. There was also a sewage smell on a section of the adjacent footway. The matter was brought to the attention of local councillor, Nathan Wilson in March and

he contacted Scottish Water to ask for the organisation to fix the sewage problem. DOWNLOAD THE LANARKSHIRE LIVE APP TODAY The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now. Get all the

easily accessible inspection point and with roots present. These roots were taken away and this has stopped the spillage of water onto the surface at Manse Road alongside removing the sewage

smell. As a longer-term project, Scottish Water also plan on returning to install a new access point and strengthen the pipework to prevent the roots from coming back again in future. READ

resolved. “The ongoing presence of the surface water and unpleasant odour was a considerable frustration in the local area and it is welcome that both are now gone. “It is vital that the

planned further activity from Scottish Water takes place at the earliest possible opportunity and to stop any repeat scenario of a blocked pipe causing a sewage problem.” Article continues
