A CAR PARKED IN THE STREET WAS ALSO SEARCHED BY OFFICERS. 15:08, 29 May 2025 A 22-year-old man has been arrested after police in riot gear were seen entering a flat in Edinburgh. Multiple police vehicles, including a dog unit, raced to Birchwood View in Clermiston just before 9am on Thursday, May 29. Officers executed a warrant at a property inside a block of flats, and later arrested the man in connection with drugs offences. They were seen afterwards removing their protective gear, while others were seen wearing gloves and searching a car parked on the pavement.c Locals in the area shared their reactions with our sister title Edinburgh Live as the incident unfolded. Article continues below A carer said they saw police vehicles arriving, with officers carrying "riot shields" and helmets as they prepared to enter the block. A resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "The street is always like this. It was getting better for a while but there are a number of troublesome characters here and it is starting to get worse. It was a matter of time before something like this happened." Another claimed the street had become much worse in the "past six months", with frequent disturbances causing a "nightmare" for neighbours. One resident was heard shouting at officers from their window to search a specific vehicle, which was followed by a confused and concerned neighbour to claim it belonged to them, pleading with them not to go near it. They said: "I don't live in that block, that is my car, I've nothing to do with this."
