An intruder reportedly broke into Windsor Castle on Sunday (June 1) afternoon, close to William and Kate's home. It is understood that a man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of
trespass on a protected site and possession of Class A drugs. It is believed the suspect climbed over a wall and gained access to the castle's private grounds in Berkshire. He was
subsequently caught by the Met Police Royal and Specialist Protection Command before being taken into custody. The suspect was then handed over to Thames Valley Police - the local force that
covers the area outside the castle’s perimeter. The man was released on bail pending further investigations. “The intruder is believed to have been under the influence of drugs at the time
of the break-in. "He broke into the castle near Town Gate and was quickly detained by police," a source told the Sun. They added that it was a "crazy thing to do" and
caused a commotion in area. The unnamed suspect did not come into contact with any members of the Royal Family and was seen by police soon after entering the grounds, which has 24-hour
security. It is thought William and Kate were staying at Adelaide Cottage, their home on the Windsor estate, on the day of the break-in with their children George, Charlotte and Louis.
However, it is unclear if they were in the home at the time of the incident. A Met Police spokesperson said: “A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of trespass on a protected site
and possession of Class A drugs after entering restricted grounds at Windsor Castle. “Officers in the grounds spotted the man just after 13:00hrs on Sunday, 1 June and quickly arrested him.
He was then passed into the custody of Thames Valley Police.” While a spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “At just after 1pm on Sunday 1 June a man entered restricted grounds at
Windsor castle. “He was quickly challenged by Met police officers and arrested. He did not enter the inner grounds of Windsor Castle. “He was arrested on suspicion of trespass on a secure
site and possession of class A drugs. He has been bailed and an investigation is ongoing by Thames Valley Police.” William and Kate have not commented on the incident. FOR THE LATEST
