THE CAGE, ONE OF BRITAIN'S MOST HAUNTED HOMES FAMED FOR ONCE BEING A WITCH PRISON, HAS NEW OWNERS WHO HOPE TO CATCH SOME EERIE PARANORMAL ACTIVITY ON RECENTLY INSTALLED SECURITY CAMERAS

18:15, 19 Apr 2025Updated 18:15, 19 Apr 2025 One of Britain’s most haunted houses, once a prison for witches, has sold - and the new owners are already experiencing the paranormal. Amy

Waine, 35 and Jarrad Cutting, 37, bought the property after learning it was for sale from a friend. The pair run social media site Amy’s Crypt, investigating ghosts and other hauntings, and

they are hoping to capture spooky moments on film. Originally from Adelaide, Australia, the couple have travelled the world investigating hauntings for years. So, when a friend told them The

Cage - a house infamous for terrifying its occupants - was for sale, they knew they had to buy it. The house, which is in the pretty village of St Osyth in Essex, has a dark history -

famously housing Ursula Kemp, who was accused of witchcraft, ahead of her excursions in 1582. Ursula was a local midwife and healer, but after a feud with a local family was accused of

witchcraft and condemned to death. She was one of 13 women at the time to be charged with the crime, all of whom were held in the village lock up. Three of the women held there, including

Ursula, were hanged for the crimes. Since then, owners of the historic property have reported seeing ghostly apparitions, with some even being pushed by ghostly figures. And, the new owners

have already had some strange experiences, Amy said: “We haven't owned the property for long but have already had a number of experiences we aren't able to explain. “Mostly things

like sounds or smells, but we've also had objects move on their own. “We just recently hooked up some surveillance cameras around the house so we're crossing our fingers we're

able to experience more and even capture it on film. She added: “Right now, our main focus is just on preserving the building. “It's fallen into a bit of disrepair due to sitting empty

for so long. “After that, we hope to make it a comfortable place where we can investigate, conduct experiments and maybe one day share it with others interested in the paranormal.” Jarrad

added: “The property came to us in passing when talking about it with some friends who had visited The Cage many years prior. “I'd asked them about their visit and they responded: ‘Did

you know the house is currently for sale?’ “I wasn't aware of this, but the seed had been planted enough for us to visit the property, fall in love and place an offer. “I'd heard

so many stories about The Cage before this and was excited at the prospect of owning a haunted property to take our work in the paranormal field to the next level.” Article continues below
