THE DWP HAS INCREASED THE AMOUNT IT PAYS TO UNIVERSAL CREDIT CLAIMANTS EACH MONTH, BUT WHEN YOU SEE THE INCREASE WILL DEPEND ON THE DATE OF YOUR ASSESSMENT PERIOD 11:46, 29 May 2025
Thousands of Universal Credit recipients are yet to experience the impact of the April payment boost. Depending on your assessment period and regular Universal Credit payment date, you can
expect to see the increased amounts between May 13 and June 12, so there's still time. A Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) uprating of 1.7 per cent is being applied to each
component of the benefit, encompassing the standard allowance and any additional amounts for children, illness or caring duties. Moreover, the newly introduced Fair Repayment Rate will lower
the amount deducted to repay debts from a maximum of 25 per cent to 15 per cent. This adjustment is anticipated to assist approximately 1.2 million Universal Credit households in retaining
more of their payments, averaging an extra £420 annually or £35 monthly. Universal Credit Payment Procedure. Universal Credit is paid in arrears every calendar month. Each recipient receives
their payment on the same date as their initial payment was made, reports Birmingham Live. The funds are deposited into your account seven days following the conclusion of a one-month
assessment period, during which all your finances (including earnings, savings, debts, and other benefits) are evaluated to determine how much you're entitled to receive. Article
continues below The annual benefit increase took effect from Monday, April 7, marking the commencement of the first week of the new financial year. Therefore, you'll need a complete
Universal Credit assessment period that begins on or after April 7 to receive the higher payments. Any evaluation commencing prior to April 7 - even by a single day - will be compensated at
the previous rates, so it's crucial to bear in mind the deadline. This implies that if your assessment period spans from April 7 to May 6, you would have been among the initial
claimants to receive the updated amounts when your payment was deposited on May 13. FULL LIST If you haven't yet received the increase, refer to our list below to determine your
