THE FUTURE QUEEN CONSORT SHOWED OFF HER FUNNY SIDE AS SHE WENT ALONG WITH THE MISTAKE, JOKING THAT SHE WAS INDEED PRINCE WILLIAM'S ASSISTANT DURING AN ENGAGEMENT IN CARDIFF 14:46, 31
May 2025 Kate Middleton's witty comeback to once being mistaken for Prince William's "assistant" during a care home visit showed she's got a cracking sense of
humour. The Duchess of Cambridge, alongside her hubby, the Duke of Cambridge, swung by Cardiff's Shire Hall care home during the pandemic for an official engagement but was mistaken for
far less than a royal. Chatting with the sprightly 87-year-old Joan Drew-Smith, who cheekily enquired if Kate was William's helper, the future Queen Consort couldn't resist a
playful jab, quipping to Wills, "Well, I am your assistant." Kate, 43, added with a chuckle: "I have been for a long time!". Their jaunt had the Royal pair in fits of
giggles as they mingled with the residents face-to-face, as we reported previously at the Daily Star. Rewind to May the previous year, and the Cambridges had a natter with the Cardiff care
home's staff and residents over a video call. During lockdown in 2020, Will and Kate turned bingo callers in a virtual game, much to the amusement of the residents. Article continues
below Joan, never one to mince her words, told them straight that their bingo calling "wasn't as good as it should have been." Prince William, recalling the moment, said:
"Hello Joan, do you remember we did the bingo with you? You said we weren't very good!". To which Joan replied with a resounding "Yes" and a brutally honest
"You did a bloody sh***y job." Her no-nonsense verdict had the Duke and Duchess in stitches, clearly enjoying her candour. However, they received a warmer reception from another
resident, Margaret Stocks, 95, who was chuffed to bits as the winner of their virtual bingo bash. She revealed to them: "I did enjoy it, and I hadn't played it before." The
Duchess retorted with a chuckle, "Neither had we, that's why we were so bad!". The Royal couple both donned masks during their visit to the care home's garden, which
occasionally made it tough for them to be heard. Article continues below The Prince explained to Joan: "We have to wear masks because of the virus but it's difficult to hear
sometimes when you can't see someone's mouth." At that moment, Joan enquired about William's companion, asking, "Is that your assistant?". Kate showcased her
quick wit, responding with a smile, "Well, I am your assistant. I have been for a long time!". FOR THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS AND STORIES FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE FROM THE DAILY STAR,
