THE RESPONDING OFFICER, A CHIHUAHUA OWNER HIMSELF, SAID JAMES WILLIAMSON DESERVES A STRONGER CHARGE FOR KILLING THE DOG BECAUSE WHAT HE DID WAS 'HORRIBLE AND INHUMANE' 23:13, 28
May 2025Updated 23:13, 28 May 2025 A vile dog owner killed his pet pooch when he allegedly threw the pup into a hot oven so it would stop barking. James Williamson, from Atmore, Alabama, was
having an argument with a relative when he threatened to put his pet dog, a chihuahua puppy, in the oven if it didn’t stop barking. The 44-year-old then grabbed the poor dog and shoved it
in his hot oven before wedging a chair against the door to stop the dog from escaping. Sergeant Darrell McMann arrived at Williamson’s home after neighbours called the police because of the
distressing yelps the little dog was making. When the cop arrived he saw the burnt puppy’s remains strewn across the driveway. A chihuahua owner himself, the dog’s little body was a
particular gruesome sight. Sergeant McMann said: “I have a chihuahua myself. When I got there, I was just at a loss for words, I really was. I just stood there and looked at the dog for a
little bit and had to get myself together.” Article continues below Williamson is being held on a $15,000 (£11,000) bond, having been charged with a Class C felony. Sergeant McMann, however,
thinks the punishment should should be stronger. In Alabama, aggravated animal cruelty is treated as a lower-tier crime, which means Williamson could escape significant prison time
depending on his history, reports Fox 10. He said: “I think in cases like this, they should be strengthened. Because I don’t think being a Class C felony fits what he did. That pretty much
describes what he did: horrible and inhumane.” If allowed out, Williamson won’t be able to have animals any more. This follows the news of a Florida woman who allegedly drowned her pet
poodle in an airport toilet before cramming it into a bin after she was told she couldn’t board the plane with the dog. Alison Agatha Lawrence, 57, from Florida, was told she could not take
her dog on her flight to Orlando International Airport as she didn’t have the correct paperwork, so she reportedly drowned it and stuffed its body into a dustbin. The Clermont woman’s dog
was found by a member of staff at the airport and Orlando Police were sent out with a warrant for the woman’s arrest. Lawrence was arrested on aggravated cruelty charges at her home. Article
continues below Orlando Police did not say what kind of animal had died and no other info was released. But the traveller was seen on CCTV with a small poodle, and her neighbours said she
had a white poodle she walked locally. _FOR THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS AND STORIES FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE FROM THE DAILY STAR, SIGN UP FOR OUR NEWSLETTERS._
