23:47, 19 May 2025 A family has honoured their "amazing" and "quirky" dad, Dave Chester, 57, who tragically lost his life while heroically assisting firefighters in
quelling a fire in Bicester that has plunged a town into grief. Dave was one of the three tragic casualties of a fierce fire at Bicester Motion business park last week, which also saw the
heartbreaking loss of two brave firefighters, Jennie Logan, 30, and Martyn Sadler, 38. The devoted business owner of Chesters and Sons, who had been a fixture on the estate for 12 years, is
being remembered by locals as "part of the fabric of our estate and a friend to us all". His family has now come forward with a touching tribute to the dearly missed father. In a
statement released through Thames Valley Police, Mr Chester's family described him as "the most amazing man we will ever know", noting that he was "known by almost
everyone". Article continues below Their heartfelt message stated: "Dave was the most amazing man we will ever know, we love and miss him so much. He was a loving and caring
father, husband, son and brother. He was Bicester born and bred and known by almost everyone. Once you met Dave, you never forgot him or his quirky sense of humour. They added: "You
won't find anyone who worked harder than he did, he built an incredible business from the ground up alongside the help of his family and friends." The devastated family shared that
the heroic father stepped up during the blaze on Thursday evening, expressing that he offered his aid "without hesitation" once 10 fire crews arrived to tackle the inferno. They
honoured him, saying: "Dave was always known as the man you went to when you needed any sort of help." They recounted the tragic evening, "This is exactly what happened on
Thursday evening, he saw firefighters needing assistance and helped without hesitation. He was not a victim but a hero, he died the way he lived – helping others and putting them ahead of
himself." According to the Mirror, the tribute affirmed that his spirit would endure, "Although he is no longer with us he will always be in our hearts and his legacy will
continue." Article continues below Touching remembrances also rolled in for Mr Sadler and Ms Logan, with fire officer Michael Brooker commemorating Ealing blue watch's Mr Sadler
for his "big beaming smile". Ms Logan was fondly recalled by her mate Stuart Smith as a "lovely person with no ego, wanting to help people". He further shared that she
was "one of my best friends and like a sister to me", noting: "I will miss her so much".
