British punk legend Colin Jerwood has sadly died at 63 following a brief illness. His band, Conflict, broke the devastating news, stating: "It is with a very heavy heart to announce
Colin passed away after a short illness. We know for his supporters that this is difficult news to hear." The band also mentioned they've created an online memorial page for fans
to pay their respects: "We appreciate that many of you might want to share your condolences. We have set up this online memorial page that you can contribute to. You can also donate to
charities in his memory." In a poignant message from Colin's family, shared by the band, they said: "Colin's family meant the world to him and he would want their wishes
to be respected. "We kindly request that you do not attend his funeral. His family will be reading through any comments on the memorial page and your presence will be felt,"
reports the Mirror. "We appreciate all your support for Colin and Conflict over the years." Conflict, a punk outfit hailing from Eltham, South London, was formed in 1981 with
Colin, Francisco 'Paco' Carreno, John, Steve, Pauline, and Paul aka 'Nihilistic Nobody' as the original members. Colin established Conflict during the UK's punk
heyday, championing animal rights and anti-fascism. Leading Conflict, Colin released tunes via their own Mortarhate Records imprint, aiding fellow bands such as Hagar the Womb and Icons of
Filth. The punk rock world is reeling from the loss of the star, with an outpouring of heartfelt tributes from devastated fans and musicians. A fan shared their sorrow on X, commenting:
"That's sad news. Only saw Conflict once, Chelmsford YMCA early 1980s. One of the best gigs I have ever been too. RIP." Another expressed their gratitude, posting: "Colin
and Conflict have been a huge inspiration on my life. He was the one that opened my eyes to the horror of vivisection and the meat industry. I want to thank him for all the animals
he's saved and inspiring me to go vegetarian and now vegan. Rest easy now Colin." And a third reminisced: "Their powerful lyrics and music will forever course through my
veins. Sleep easy now beautiful man." WANT ALL THE BIGGEST SHOWBIZ AND TV NEWS STRAIGHT TO YOUR INBOX? SIGN UP FOR OUR FREE DAILY STAR SHOWBIZ NEWSLETTER.
