George Russell(Image: Getty Images) Max Verstappen has finally addressed his farcical crash with George Russell during the Spanish Grand Prix.
The Dutchman completely lost his head in the closing laps at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Sunday as he appeared to deliberately crash into Russell. Verstappen’s race totally
unravelled as he went from P4 at the time of the incident to finish P10 after being slapped with a 10-second penalty.
Verstappen took avoiding action at turn one after the safety car restart when Russell got the nose of his Mercedes up the inside of the Red Bull. The two cars banged wheels and Verstappen
took to the run-off lane and rejoined the track ahead of the Brit.
However, Verstappen’s radio engineer Gianpiero Lambiase told him to give the position to Russell after Red Bull decided to it was safer to avoid a potential penalty.
Furious with the call, Verstappen appeared to let Russell go past on the outside but as the two approached the corner, Verstappen inexplicably drove straight and ended up crashing into
Russell and immediately sped off to stay ahead.

and pick up just one World Championship point as his title defence took a major knock.
Having refused to speak about the incident in his post-race interview, Verstappen has since addressed the crash on Instagram. He wrote: “We had an exciting strategy and good race in
Barcelona, till the safety car came out.
“Our tyre choice to the end and some moves after the safety car restart fuelled my frustration, leading to a move that was not right and shouldn’t have happened. I always give everything out
there for the team and emotions can run high. You win some together, you lose some together. See you in Montreal.”
Content cannot be displayed without consent When Verstappen was asked about the crash by Sky Sports after the race, he gave a spikey response, snapping back: "Does it matter? I prefer to
speak about the race than just one single moment.”
Article continues below He was also asked whether the incident has marred his reputation as a driver again after being involved in similar controversial moments during recent years and
whether the incident sets a good example for those watching.
"Is it? Well that's your opinion, we will leave it there," Verstappen again shot back as the interview concluded.
