GEARBOX BOSS RANDY PITCHFORD HAS HIT BACK AT CLAIMS THAT BORDERLANDS 4'S NEW RELEASE DATE WAS INFLUENCED BY GTA 6 OR MARATHON, SAYING IT'S "THE RESULT OF CONFIDENCE IN THE
GAME" 14:24, 21 May 2025 Borderlands 4 is launching earlier than anticipated, with the loot-shooter now arriving on September 12. That's a big result for the series' fans, and
while some had speculated it was moved to clear room for GTA 6, that's not the case since Rockstar's upcoming adventure will launch in 2026 anyway. Still, with both sharing a
parent company (Take-Two Interactive), there's one thing that could be common ground between the two, and that's the price. While some had suggested GTA 6 being priced higher could
'save' the video game industry, other titles like Mario Kart World are already launching at a higher price, and Borderlands 4 will follow suit. Still, Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford
has rubbed some fans the wrong way with his comments on the matter. BORDERLANDS 4 BOSS' COMMENTS SUGGEST GTA 6 PRICE INCREASE Never one to stay quiet, Pitchford responded to a fan who
said "Randy, this game better not be 80 dollars. Don't take that risk, alot of gamers aren't gonna pay 80 dollars and feed this notion of constant increase of the price
tag." Article continues below "You are the CEO, you have some say with the price when it comes to your publisher". His response, however, will not be what some fans wanted to
hear. "A) Not my call," he said. "B) If you’re a real fan, you’ll find a way to make it happen. My local game store had Starflight for Sega Genesis for $80 in 1991 when I was
just out of high school working minimum wage at an ice cream parlor in Pismo Beach and I found a way to make it happen." Fans have been vocal in their response to the post on X
(formerly Twitter) which has now been seen by more than 1.4 million users. The suggestion that the decision was made about Pitchford suggests it could be a directive from 2K or Take-Two
further up the chain, and seemingly means it's very, very unlikely GTA 6 will cost any less than Borderlands 4. Article continues below For context, Mario Kart World retails for $80,
but £75 in the UK. If I were a betting man, I'd say you're likely to be spending similarly for GTA 6 when the time comes. Thankfully, with the game coming in May 2026, you've
