Imagine you get your shiny new Nintendo Switch 2 alongside Mario Kart World, only to find a staple hole in the console's display.
That's the reality facing multiple customers who purchased the system from one GameStop store in the US, and if you've been reading our excellent live blog, you'll know it's seemingly
because of the way Nintendo's packaging has put the device's screen right at the top.
Now, GameStop has responded to what it calls "a unique case".
Switch 2 consoles 'stapled'Content cannot be displayed without consent Posting on X (formerly Twitter), the official GameStop account quote-tweeted the story.
"We’ve addressed a unique case of staples damaging Switch 2 screens—isolated to one store," the post reads.

While it's likely to be memed for years to come, fans have been pleased to see such swift response from the store.
"Customer service and social media done right in a single post," one commented, while others appreciated the gif from the movie Office Space.
In case you missed it yesterday, one GameStop employee was affixing receipts to boxes, which makes sense.
Sadly, customers then went home and opened it to find the staple had gone through and affected the display.

Whether replacement Switch 2s will be available instantaneously or on back order remains to be seen, but fair play to the retailer for moving quickly.
We just hope the employee in question is OK!
