Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson, Oscar-nominated writers of _The Fighter_, have partnered with Sam Raimi on the feature adaptation of Jake Tapper‘s bestselling book _The Outpost: An Untold
Story Of American Valor._ Raimi will produce and supervise development of the script with an eye towards directing. Raimi will produce with Rob Tapert, and Paul Merryman will be co-producer.
The film becomes part of a growing number focusing on the bravery of American troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. The focus of _The Outpost_ is the defense of a remote U.S. camp in Eastern
Afghanistan by 53 American soldiers as it was overrun by up to 400 Taliban fighters. The intense and deadly day-long clash resulted in multiple citations including Medals of Honor to two
recipients, the first time America’s highest military award has been given to two living soldiers for the same battle since 1968. Said Raimi: “_The Outpost_ is an epic story of bravery,
courage, and sacrifice of our men in uniform, and is absolutely a picture meant for the big screen. I’m honored to be a part of it.” Tapper, who’s reported extensively on Afghanistan, is the
host of CNN’s _The Lead With Jake Tapper_, and is chief Washington correspondent for the cable news network. Raimi last directed _Oz The Great And Powerful_. Tamasy and Johnson’s script
_The Finest Hours_ is in pre-production at Disney with Craig Gillespie directing an adaptation of the Casey Sherman and Michael Tougias book about a daring Coast Guard rescue after two oil
tankers were destroyed during a blizzard off the coast of Cape Cod in 1952; they also are currently writing a true spy drama for Fox Studios with Ben Stiller attached to direct; and a
miniseries about the Boston Marathon bombing and the subsequent manhunt for the terrorists, based on a book by Casey Sherman and Boston Herald investigative reporter Dave Wedge. The event
series is scheduled to air in 2015 simultaneously on A&E, History, and Lifetime. The scribes just finished for Flashlight Films a feature on Olympic rowing champ Jack Kelly, father of
actress-turned-princess Grace Kelly. WATCH ON DEADLINE Tamasy and Johnson are repped by The Gotham Group, Verve, and Nelson Davis Wetzstein. Raimi’s repped by CAA.
