In the Comedy Central show _Nathan For You, _host Nathan Fielder creates absurd strategies to help small businesses, and the audience gets to see how those ideas plays out. But for the
finale, he shifted gears with a compelling story titled “Finding Frances.” In the episode, Fielder helps Bill Heath track down a woman he thinks he should have married. The premise first
came to light when Heath was on an episode of _Nathan For You _as a Bill Gates impersonator. When Heath came back for the DVD commentary, Fielder learned about his story and that’s when
“Finding Frances” started to develop. “In _Nathan For You, _we try to weave in reality,” Fielder, who also serves as executive producer, writer and director on the show, said recently at
Deadline’s The Contenders Emmys event. “The things that are unexpected lead to the best moments on camera.” With Heath’s compelling story, Fielder and his team thought that they could make
it into a show. “It turned into this two-hour feature-length documentary they aired as a special,” he said. The show may be a comedy, but Fielder adds, “To spend a lot of time with someone
who has that type of regret. It makes you think of your own life and where you’re headed.” Check out the conversation above.
