Bangalore University loses the Rs 150 crore project. The Sitaram Jindal School of Economics was set to come up at the Bangalore University (BU) but now the plan has been dropped. There was
opposition from the BU Syndicate as well as protests by students. According to a report in The New Indian Express, the Jindal Group has now withdrawn the project and has informed the BU as
well of their decision. The Vice-Chancellor was informed first before they communicated it by fax. The BU was planning to set up a School of Economics modelled along the lines of the London
School of Economics at a cost of Rs 150 crore. Members of the Syndicate and student organisations protested this move. The Jindal Group wanted to construct the building and hand it over to
the BU. Due to the protests, the BU called for a special meeting and the project was passed unanimously. However, the Jindal Group has decided to withdraw the project, states the report.
