Students applying for class X and XII state board examinations will no longer have to wait in queues at their schools' offices for collecting forms. Students applying for class X and
XII state board examinations will no longer have to wait in queues at their schools' offices for collecting forms. When the facilities being considered by the executive council of the
Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) see the light of day, students will be able to complete the entire process online. As per the decision, records of all schools
affiliated with the education board will have to be placed online. "This includes information about everything and everyone - details of staff members ranging from the principal to the
peon, the number of students and medium of instruction, and even the names of the trustees," said Bhaskar Patel, senior executive member of the GSHSEB. Patel said that this will enable
students to access all kinds of information online, and they will not have to go from school to school to inquire. Besides, examination forms for class X and XII will be made available on
the net, as will be those for admissions to class IX and XI. Patel said, "This is the first time we're attempting such a system, in a bid to reduce the pressure on the students.
The contract for providing infrastructure and information back-up has been awarded to GICL, which is a state government operative." He added that at the click of a mouse, the students
will be able to get information about subsidiary certificates as well. Patel said that manual filling up of forms, especially for the state board exams, created a lot of problems for the
staff and students alike. However, the new system will take care of these hassles, he said. He added that the executive committee of the board is also considering systemising the syllabus in
all affiliated school boards.
