The process of updating of the voters’ list will begin from October 1 and last till October 30. Is your name missing from the electoral roll? Have you shifted your residence? Here you have

the last chance, before the 2012 assembly elections, to update your name on the electoral roll. The process of updating of the voters’ list will begin from October 1 and last till October

30. The Ahmedabad district collectorate will start a voters’ helpdesk as a one-stop solution for name change, transfer of name, rectification of errors in name, and registration of

first-time voters. Ahmedabad district collector Vijay Nehra said that the last phase of electoral roll updating before the assembly elections of 2012 will start from October 1. Hundreds of

complaints had been received in the past about voters’ names missing from the electoral roll. However, the voters do not have proper information about documents to be submitted and whom to

approach in case of missing names or change in address. “We will start a voters’ helpdesk at the premises of the collectorate that will not only provide information such as whether someone’s

name is included in the list, but also the procedure for registration of names,” said Nehra. At the helpdesk, all the information about 17 assembly constituencies in the district will be

provided and forms will be distributed and received, he said. The collectorate wants to cover 100% of the eligible voters in the list before the assembly elections in the state in 2012.

Moreover, names of bogus voters would be removed from the list too. The electoral photo identity card (EPIC) will be issued only in January 2012.
