The SIC had directed the board to provide the answer sheet and revisit its rules in the light of the RTI Act and SC order. Days after State Information Commission (SIC) in a landmark order

directed the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) to provide answer sheet to a parent, it has come to light that the student got fewer marks in one paper solely due to

totalling mistake. Anis Khan, a parent, had approached the SIC after the total score had fallen in the diploma exams post re-assessment. Khan and his son had expected the marks to jump by

three per cent. Some teachers had told them the same, claimed Khan. When Khan sought a copy of the answer sheet after re-assessment, he was told that it cannot be provided because had

already been given to him once, and it can not be given for the second time. The SIC had directed the board to provide the answer sheet and revisit its rules in the light of the RTI Act and

SC order. Khan now wants to take the case to higher authorities. "How can they be so callous in giving marks? Students feel so let down when they do not get good marks," said Khan.

When DNA tried contacting the MSBTE officials, they were unavailable to comment.
