ST bus loses control due to tyre burst; collides with another ST bus; victims in civil hospital; motorcyclist also hurt A total of 49 people were injured, 23 of them seriously, when two
Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation buses collided head-on at Bhivadi village near Koregaon in Satara district on Satara-Pandharpur state highway on Monday afternoon. The injured
victims have been admitted to the civil hospital in Satara. The bus (MH 14/ BT 0586) from Solapur depot was going towards Satara when its tyre burst. As a result the driver lost control over
the bus which swayed and collided head-on with the other bus (MH 40/ N 8418) of Waduj depot. The driver of the bus of the Waduj depot tried avoid the collision, but did not succeed. Adding
to the complexity of the situation, a motorcycle moving behind the bus hit it and the rider was injured. A nine-month-old girl on board one of the buses escaped unhurt in the mishap. The
injured victims were rescued by local residents and sent to Satara in available vehicles. The victims are from Satara, Sangli and Solapur districts. MLA Shashikant Shinde rushed to the
Satara civil hospital on receiving reports of the mishap. The driver of the Solapur depot bus, Vinod Sindkar lodged a complaint. Assistant sub-inspector Pratap Madane is investigating the
case.
