Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s website. The reason being that nearly 70% properties are illegal. Concerned about home buyers getting duped, the civic administration has started uploading


information about building permissions granted by it on its official website. On Wednesday municipal commissioner Shrikar Pardeshi appealed to the citizens to log on to the PCMC’s website


pcmcindia.gov.in and check if the building where they are planning to buy a flat is a legal construction or not. The civic administration has published a detailed list of the illegal


structures. Such structures include the buildings that have come up in the rivers’ flood line, plots reserved for various reasons in the development plan (DP), red zone or the constructions


built without getting the needed permissions. Details of the owners or developers of such constructions have also been uploaded on the PCMC website. The PCMC recently upgraded its website to


make it more citizen-friendly. Pardeshi said, “Many outsiders want to invest money in lands or flats in the twin town as it  well-developed. Also, the twin town’s proximity to industrial or


IT areas such as auto cluster and Rajiv Gandhi IT park at Hinjewadi makes it an attractive area to invest in. However, there are chances of property buyers getting duped while closing the


deals. Even, locals have been coming up to me asking questions regarding the properties they plan to buy. A study revealed that about 70% of the properties in Pimpri Chinchwad are illegal


constructions because of various reasons. Therefore, verification before buying a property is essential.”
