England Hockey are challenging our network of clubs to ‘buddy up’ with a state primary school, to help share our love of hockey and help get more young people, inspired by the Paris 2024

Olympics, fit and active.

Here’s a bit more information to help you learn about the initiative:

England Hockey want to show and give young people in diverse backgrounds the opportunity to experience and learn lifelong skills through hockey. As a gender equal sport, England Hockey are

thrilled that both the men’s and women’s GB Hockey teams competed at the Paris 2024 Olympics, and we want to share our sport with state primary schools to help inspire more young people to

give hockey a try.

Building a partnership between your club and local school(s) creates a host of reciprocal benefits, enriching the educational curriculum, whilst nurturing the sport's future.

Or, be proactive and tell us that you want to take part and follow these simple steps to get signed up:

Here are some ideas to get you started…

Organise special events in September where pupils from your partner school(s) can experience hockey at your club first hand.

By creating a welcoming and exciting environment during Club Pick Up a Stick Open Days, your hockey club can build a strong foundation for a long-lasting partnership with the school and it’s

pupils.

We’d love to hear about how many schools you have ‘buddied up’ with and what activities you get up to with them between now and the end of the Olympics.  Please send videos, photos, updates

to us at [email protected] or share through social media using #summerofhockey

We’ll be awarding some prizes to lucky schools, clubs, and individuals as part of our campaign – you could potentially win a brand new hockey equipment pack for your club, simply by sharing

your celebrations with us here.
