Alexander MORE than 100 junior swimmers battled it out for supremacy in the Riverside Pool on Saturday for the Riverside Aquatic junior regional medal meeting.

freestyle, butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke events over a lap of the 33-metre pool in age groups from nine and under up to 14-year-olds.


"The meeting was aimed at children who have not won state medals over the past 12 months and was an opportunity for newcomers to come along who do not normally swim with clubs," Riverside


Aquatic Swimming Club secretary Maree Blackaby said.

for the older swimmers to hop in and have a go, which was won by a masters swimmer.


"There were 102 swimmers and all up South Esk had the biggest number of competitors and won the most medals on the day, followed by Riverside Aquatic."


Medals were awarded for first, second and third places, with every swimmer who took part receiving a ribbon.
