manager Carl Saunder and Tasmanian Football Council general manager Jackson Hills fronted the media in Hobart on Wednesday and advised that the Garlick report will be made available on July

5.

Auld said increasing grassroots participation in state football was a priority focus.

“With participation you have a natural consequence of people coming to spectate or volunteering around clubs or playing,” he said.

“I think for us the focus has to be on participation and if we get the touch points of participation right and really strong and healthy then they (people) will come.”

Saunder held a meeting with TSL clubs at Campbell Town on Tuesday and said there was plenty of good will toward the continuation of the competition in the long-term.

Saunder will meet with the Prospect Hawks on Monday to discuss the chances of them joining the TSL senior competition and restoring it to ten teams.

“We had a great day yesterday with our ops guys and we got a great sense that everyone wants to move forward and they want to work together with AFL Tas and I think that is an important and

refreshing step,” he said.

“I see this as a hand in glove approach I don’t see it as us and them – we need to come together and that’s the sense I got from yesterday - lots of challenges obviously but looking forward

to working with them.

“From the clubs and people I have spoken to I have no doubt they are believers in the TSL and they want to see it be successful.”

Hills takes over as TFC general manager and welcomed the opportunity to return home to Tasmania from Sydney and be involved in football.

“I am looking forward to getting out over the next couple of weeks and meeting each of our associations and clubs and finding out what the challenges and opportunities are,” he said.
