Breier’s vision deteriorated and he is now legally blind.

He said since welcoming her into the family, the now eight-year-old Labrador hadn’t left his side.

“Wherever I go, Wizard goes,” Mr Breier said.

“I’ve never looked back since I got her, she’s just wonderful.”

Guide Dogs spokesperson Dr Graeme White said the organisation relied on the generosity of the community to continue its work.

“Statistics show that every day, 28 Australians are diagnosed with uncorrectable vision loss,” he said.

“The Guide Dogs grant a level of independence and allows the user to achieve their goals in life.”

Each Guide Dog costs more than $35,000 to breed, raise and train and is provided to a person who is blind or vision impaired at no cost.
