SayYour SayDecember 17 2016 - 6:00amDecember 17 2016 - 6:00amFacebookTwitterWhatsappEmailCopyEuthanasia IN AN article in (The Examiner, December 4) Margaret Tighe disagrees with “assisted
dying”. Her organisation Right to Life obviously backs her up on this subject. If each and every action has an equal and opposite reaction then Right to Life should have a Right to Death, to
balance the equation. I’ll join that one and attend meetings, maybe take biscuits or a Death by Chocolate cake, perhaps one day when you have an epiphany on this subject we will be able to
welcome you into our group.

Meadows.COUNCIL RATES REGARDING the council’s decision to scrap the average rates, it is totally unfair. A lot of people are asset rich, by no fault of their own. When the property market
had a boom some property values doubled, if not tripled, they would have brought their houses when prices where low and lived in them for many years. Some people would probably get a
concession on their rates but it would not help them out too much. Some areas of Launceston, the rates are expensive and haven’t even got footpaths, street lighting or an up to standard
water supply and they are paying triple the rates to areas with this standard infrastructure. Time for the council to be a bit more fairer. If some of the other councils can do it, why not
Launceston?
Cheryl Quarry, St Leonards.School Programs DAVID Bissett (The Examiner, December 8) maintains that some of the programs being run in our schools are tantamount to indoctrination. Surely the
same can be said of religion. It influences young minds, which are presented with one point of view only, and prevents children from making informed decisions. Furthermore, the government
generously subsidised schools which revolve around religion. I recently heard Magda Szubanski say that she knew from the age of five that she wasn’t the same as other girls. How much easier
the lives of LGBTI people would be if they didn’t have to ‘come out’. Children should be educated about the vast differences among their peers, just as they are in relation to other
cultures.
