featured in Tasmania’s annual heavy music festival, which has been running for the past couple of years.
Good heavy metal bands were emerging in Tasmania, but didn’t always have the support to play bigger stages, he said
“We’ve got a lot of bigger festivals, but we don’t really cater for heavier music.”
Australian heavy metal band King Parrot will headline the festival.
It was a massive opportunity for local bands to play alongside King Parrot and other heavy hitting, quality metal bands, he said.
“It helps the bands to progress, learn and network.”
He hoped the festival would continue to attract more music fans, bigger bands and grow, Tolputt said.
“I want it to be viable for the long term ... I think the future is really bright.”
The band list includes King Parrot, Lo!, Gravemind, Taberah, The Absolution Sequence, Scoparia, Plague of Sickness, Majula, Place of Power and Dire.
“I think a lot of people will dig up a hidden gem they haven’t heard before,” Tolputt said.
“Come and check it out.”
Doors will open at Metal Fusion: Heavy Music Festival 2018 from 3pm at Club 54 on Saturday. Tickets are available at Oztix or at the door for $30.ShareFacebookTwitterWhatsappEmailCopyTess
