and rescue-trained investigators returned to the site on Sunday.

The investigators were flown by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and were winched down to the scene.

Inspector Dave Wiss said the team had two objectives on Sunday.

“[One] to safely retrieve the pilot’s body, and to forensically examine the scene,” he said.

“It was important to achieve both objectives for the sake of the family and to ensure a greater understanding of the events that contributed to this tragic event. Thankfully, both have been

successfully achieved.”

The emergency location transmitter, like an EPIRB for a plane, was extricated from the wreckage and has been returned to Hobart for examination.
